Tablet computers have started to really take off, thanks to products like Apple's Ipad. It has opened up the doors for this new style of computing. Up until recently, there were other manufacturers trying to compete in this market, but having very little success. Amazon has now stepped into this market with their all new Amazon Kindle Fire tablet. Many are viewing it as the first real competitor to go up against the Ipad while others see it as a completely different product. Read this kindle fire review to see what all they hype is about.
This Amazon kindle fire was announced at a press event on September 28, 2011. There were long time rumors that Amazon wanted to release a color tablet. Many thought it would be called the Kindle color. The previous kindle models were more of just ebook readers and came in Grey scale rather than color. They were also limited in function, such as no web browser and were mainly used to download and read kindle books and magazines. While they had an internet connection, without a browser you could not go online.
7 Tablet Computer
The kindle fire is a completely different product and it is based around the popular Google android operating system. Android first started out as an OS for phones, but has recently graduated to run on tablet computers. So what makes the Kindle Fire different from the old Kindles? First off it has a beautiful 7 inch color display made of Gorilla glass. This insures the screen is strong and scratch resistant. In fact Gorilla glass is up to 7 times harder than normal polymers. The tablet runs on a dual-core processor that makes multitasking and switching applications a breeze.
One of the biggest draws to this tablet compared to others is the price. The Kindle fire will be sold for just 9. This is a significantly lower price than many other tablet computing systems. Amazon is able to offer such a bargain price because the device is tied into their Eco-system. This means you have direct access to purchase ebooks, music and movies from their ever expanding catalog. They have even recently partnered to offer streaming movies and TV programs.
While there is no 3G access on this device it runs on WI-fi. So anywhere you have a wireless connection, you can browse and download content. One of the biggest factors that differentiates the Kindle fire from other tablets that have failed in the past is the Amazon appstore. This gives users access to thousands of Android games and applications. They even feature a "free app of the day" to allow you to get free content. Many popular games such as Angry birds have been featured through this program.
As far as how the amazon kindle fire tablet stacks up against the Apple iPad 2, it is a much more economical device. If you want a device that will allow you to read ebooks, magazines and to play movies and music then this is a great device. Movies look great on the IPS display and the Amazon appstore will allow you to download and play games. With the holiday season coming up, it makes a great gift and it is sure to be a hit.
