The Computer Hardware That is Bendable, Flexible, and Reliable - Coming to a Tablet Near You

Indeed, I've always thought that a computer should be really easy to carry, and very hard to break. Back in 1999 there were quite a few designers in the personal computer field who envisioned bendable computers. We have that technology now, and there are lots of applications for such things like this, for instance smart phones and tablets.

Imagine the US Track Relay Team passing a baton to Win the Gold then using the device to send an email to all of their mothers that they just won the gold medal? All that will be possible soon, and perhaps the computer system won't weigh much more than one of those aluminum batons that they currently use in the Olympics, yes, imagine that?

Well, imagine no longer because computer hardware scientists and researchers have it now. There is an interesting article on this in the Kurzweil Accelerating Intelligence Online News titled "Flexible Paper computer Morphs Into Smartphone or Tablet" posted by the Editor on May 5, 2011.

There is also a link to a YouTube video on the topic produced by Human Media Lab which focuses on the latest research by Arizona State University (Motivational Environments Research Group) and the Human Media Lab of Queen's University; "PaperPhone: Understanding the Use of Bend Gestures in Mobile Devices with Flexi Electronic Paper Displays"

It's hard to say exactly where computer hardware will go in the future when it comes to tablet computers, but I think it's safe to say that they will have video and holographic conferencing features, and they will be all-in-one devices. This new technology for a bendable computer makes a lot of sense also, and why not. It seems each time that Apple comes out with a new iPhone version there are more important features, and leading edge technology which emerges.

So, I ask when will one of these bendable iPad tablet computers hit the scene? Will it be in 2012, 2013, 2014, or what is your guess? You see, it would seem to me that a bendable tablet computer is what everyone will be carrying around in the future. They can shove it in their back pocket and not worry about sitting on it. It will be unbreakable and indestructible, and just the fact that such computer hardware exists means that other applications for tablets used in industry and business will soon become more viable.

HTC Flyer 7 Inch Tablet

Powered by Android (Gingerbread) 2.3 and run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 1.5 GHz Processor, the HTC Flyer comes with 32GB of internal storage which is expandable with a microSD card, and 1GB of RAM. The tablet weighs in at less than 15 ounces, and measures in at 4.7 inches wide, 7.7 inches high, and a half an inch thick.

The HTC Flyer is somewhat unique from other tablets on the market today in its infusion of a stylus. HTC's Scribe technology lets users take notes, sign contracts, draw pictures, or even write on a web pages, photos, and PDFs. Staying on the software side of things, the HTC Flyer supports Flash 10.1 and HTML 5.

Thanks to the many leaks being spread over the internet, the 7" Flyer will have a 1024 x 600 resolution and 24 bits of color depth and a capacitive multi-touch touch screen display. This Tablet PC has a 5MP rear facing camera complete with an LED flash and is technologically capable of facial recognition. It also has a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels with auto focus and a digital zoom. Skype comes preinstalled on the HTC Flyer. Its users will be happy to know that video chatting is doable on this Tablet PC because of its 1.3MP front camera.

This device comes complete with a GPS antenna with maps included, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n support, Bluetooth technology, ambient light sensor, G-Sensor, and a digital compass. The Flyer tablet comes with excellent battery life 8 to 14 hours in standby mode and HD video playback up to 4 hours.

Other features on the HTC Flyer are its HDMI port, micro USB 2.0, and HSPA connectivity allowing for speeds up to 14.4 Mbps for downloading and for uploading speed of 5.76 Mbps. The HTC Flyer is capable of supporting 6 networks including GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, WCDMA 2100 and WCDMA 900. The devices network data support includes HSUPA, HSUPA 3.5G, WCDMA 3G, EDGE and GPRS.

The Flyer is scheduled to be up for sale sometime in March in the United States at a starting price of around 0.00. A specific release date has yet to be announced by the Flyer's makers. Rumor has that the 10" models will also come on the market in 2011.

Android 2.2 OS and Dell Stage User Interface

The Streak 7 runs the latest Android operating system--OS 2.2 (aka, Froyo)--which provides a faster overall Android experience as well as greater multitasking capabilities. You'll be able to receive notifications, listen to music, and even record GPS data without keeping the application open. And it features a plethora of new enhancements, including an improved QWERTY keyboard, full push corporate e-mail, and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web.
